Accent Dance

New York, NY

Since our inception, Accent Dance NYC has served over 25,000 pre-K and school-age children in New York City, Westchester County, and the greater Northeast through its three signature education programs: Dance Education Residencies, Educational Dance Performances, and Family Engagement Workshops. Programming includes a wide range of dance forms, including, among others, African dance, step, salsa, tango, creative movement, Hip Hop dance, and ballet. Students learn about each dance form’s history and cultural roots, while discovering the joy of movement and developing their artistic voice. This often incorporates activism on topical issues, such as climate change and social justice, empowering students to advocate for themselves and others. Our inspiring and uplifting programs boost self-esteem, cognitive skills, and creativity while reminding students that their heritage, experiences, and identity matter.
